In the pharmaceutical market, there are many different forms and types of testosterone. But almost all of them are injectable, in the form of an oil solution. The main problem that prevented the creation of testosterone in tablets was that the molecule of substance is destroyed in the liver by special enzymes. Thus, to give stability to the form, there was simply no other option, except for the modification of the molecule itself. And this was done: first (in the middle of the last century) methyltestosterone appeared on the market, and then (in the early 80’s) and testosterone undecanoate (Testosterone Undecanoate).
The main active substance – testosterone, is characterized by pronounced anabolic effects. In men, it is produced by the adrenal cortex and Leydig cells, in women – only by the adrenal cortex. Testosterone is a product of peripheral metabolism and a basic substance for the production of many steroids. It should be noted that the hormone itself has low biological activity and weakly binds to androgen receptors. Testosterone is modified with a special enzyme – 5-alpha-reductase, and converted into a biologically active form – dihydrotestosterone. According to the studies conducted, testosterone undecanoate is nontoxic for the liver, since it does not enter the bloodstream when it is sucked, but into the lymph through which it enters the common circulatory system. Steroid does not show estrogenic activity, users do not face fluid accumulation and gynecomastia. Suppression of the production of own testosterone is not very pronounced.
